ST. CLOUD, Minn. (NEWSnet/AP) — Donald Trump is taking his campaign to Minnesota. He will hold a rally in St. Cloud on Saturday night, along with running mate J.D. Vance.

Earlier in the day, an appearance was scheduled for a bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

In May, Trump headlined a Republican Party fundraiser in St. Paul, saying he could win the state and appealing to the iron mining region of northeastern Minnesota.

That’s also a group of potential voters that Trump’s campaign has seen as one of the people he can reach with Vance, a senator from Ohio, who hails from a Rust Belt city.

In 2016, Trump was 1.5 percentage points away from defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton in Minnesota. In 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump by more than 7 percentage points in the state’s popular vote.
