Mike Tomlin provides update on Steelers’ QB Russell Wilson injury status

Coach Tomlin provides an update on Wilson’s injury status and availability for pre-season.

With the NFL preseason underway, many eyes will be on the franchises with serious Super Bowl aspirations this season. Pittsburgh Steelers are a good example, as they have significantly strengthened their offensive line. With these major improvements, The Steelers are looking to make a big push to win a championship and a Super Bowl ring.

When it comes to reinforcements, quarterback Justin Veldenformerly of the Chicago Bears, has joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fields was initially brought in as a potential backup to the veteran Russel WilsonHowever, a recent calf injury has caused concern among the coaching staff and fans, causing some unrest as the season approaches.

According to ESPN reporter Brooke Pryorhead coach Mike Tomlin has downplayed concerns over Russell Wilson’s injury. Tomlin clarified that there have been no setbacks with wilson’s condition and he is assured that he just wants to “to prevent something small from becoming big.”

The head coach’s comments came after the former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback said in an interview with The Athletics That “I feel good. It’s nothing to be panicky or worried about.”

Russell Wilson’s injury

This week, starting quarterback Russell Wilson was unable to participate in lighter workouts due to a calf injury. As a result, head coach Mike Tomlin decided to give Wilson some rest and his place was taken by the recently signed Justin Fields.

The former Seattle Seahawks quarterback signed a veteran minimum contract after being cut by the Denver Broncos in the offseason. If Russell Wilson doesn’t recover physically and perform at a high level, his starting quarterback position could be in jeopardy, given the promising performances of young Justin Fields.
