Charles Baumer Obituary | July 26, 2024

Charles Glenn Baumer, 92, of Coshocton, went to be with his Savior on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 11, 1931, in New Philadelphia, the son of the late C. Glenn Baumer and Dorothy (Nicholas) Baumer. On April 18, 1953, he married Shirley J. (Geltz) Baumer, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2024. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War and retired from General Electric – Coshocton.

He received God’s free gift of salvation over fifty years ago and attended Victory Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and drove the church bus for many years. He was a mechanic for much of his life and had an affinity for classic cars.

Charles is survived by his children, Chuck (Connie) Baumer and Beth (Wayne) Cormack, both of Coshocton, Jeff (Anita) Baumer of Marietta, OH, and Greg (Sharon) Baumer of Newark, OH, and son-in-law Matt Elvin Sr., of Uhrichsville. Grandchildren include Matthew, Mark and Michael Elvin, Cara Renner, Crista Berry, Roger Grantham, Michael Cormack, Candace Cormack, Rachel Dillon, Kelly Thomspon, Lisa Baumer and Nick Baumer; thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Doris (Dick) Bichsel and Portia (Ken) Metzger.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter Mary Margaret (Baumer) Elvin, daughter-in-law Carla Baumer, grandson Chad Baumer, and siblings Glenda Rittenour and John Albert Baumer.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main, Street, Coshocton, OH 43812 on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with his son, Pastor Jeff Baumer, and his pastor, Pastor Ralph Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park, Dover, OH with his grandson, Army Chaplain Dr. Michael Cormack, officiating.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church or Community Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
