Former LSU beach volleyball stars Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss win opening match at Olympics

Former LSU Beach volleyball stars Taryn Kloth And Kristen Nuss opened the doors for Team USA at the Olympics with a convincing straight sets victory over Canada.

The duo won the first set 21-17 and then continued even stronger in the second set with a 21-14 score.

The duo are ranked No. 2 in the Olympics and are widely expected to compete for a gold medal. Even then, there were some nerves in front of the large crowd in front of the Eiffel Tower today.

“I think our coach, Signed Hamilton“It really reminded us that we’re literally playing the exact same game that we do every day in practice,” Kloth said. “And yes, it’s a much bigger crowd and a lot more people, but it’s really passing, setting, hitting and doing what we do every day.”

If nerves were a factor, LSU duo Kloth and Nuss did a great job of hiding it.

They were on point from the start and led for almost the entire match, making for a relatively stress-free transition to the next round.

Still, it was quite a challenge for the two stars from Baton Rouge.

“How do you describe that? It was just insane,” Nuss said. “It far exceeded my expectations. To have this place completely packed, it’s huge. It’s just surreal.”

Both did great for LSU and Team USA though, and they will look to continue on the field by showing their pride for the country, with thousands of others watching and cheering them on from their home countries.

In fact, a bar in Baton Rouge was packed to watch their game on Saturday. Check it out below.

Kloth and Nuss are proud to represent their country and their university, LSU.

“The best three letters you could ever imagine,” Kloth said. “We’re so honored, so grateful to have those on our jerseys, our caps, everything. It’s an unbelievable feeling.”

Nuss recounted the experience he had the day before at the opening ceremony:

“We went, got to explore that. Such a crazy feeling. It definitely brought me to many, many tears, seeing all those American flags in the crowd and just that pride in the country is something special.”
