CLAY CITY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A joint investigation by the Montgomery County and Powell County Sheriff’s Office led to the indictment of a suspect and the recovery of a stolen SUV on Saturday.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), a side-by-side SUV was stolen in “a theft that occurred in Montgomery County on July 24.”

According to police, 38-year-old William Beer of Jeffersonville was arrested early Saturday morning “on two active warrants” by the Powell County Sheriff’s Office.

In connection with the investigation into the stolen SUV, Beer was charged with second-degree vandalism, third-degree burglary and theft by unlawful deception of an item valued at more than $10,000 but less than $1 million.

The side-by-side was found Saturday in Clay City, shortly before Beer was charged, police said. The all-terrain vehicle was found in what appeared to be a shed with a door.

The investigation is ongoing. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information to contact Montgomery County dispatch at (859) 498-8704 and speak to a deputy.
