Denver Blues Concert Raises Money for Musicians in Need

DENVER (KDVR) — A blues concert in Denver on Sunday will offer visitors a meal and a show, while also helping music professionals in need.

The concert will raise money for MusiCares, a nonprofit organization that helps musicians across the country with a variety of needs, from mental and physical health, rehabilitation services, support and financial assistance for other needs.

The benefit, presented by Blue Roots Denver and CMDance, will be held at the Denver Turnverein, located at 1570 N. Clarkson St., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Guests will be treated to a meal accompanied by an acoustic blues set and a full band set. There will also be a dance area where guests can move and groove to the music. There will also be a silent auction and other activities.

Jazz artist James Speiser told FOX31 the nonprofit helped pay for his surgery.

“They helped me pay for surgery. One time I got hurt because I didn’t have insurance,” Speiser said.

Tickets range from $20 to $50, and 70 percent of proceeds will go directly to MusiCares, according to a press release.
