Wilson York breaks 13-14 Boys NAG with 2:15.11 in Indianapolis

NCSA SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

Wilson York of the Lakeside Swim Team in Kentucky swam to a new national record for boys 13-14 years old (NAG) in the LCM 200 breaststroke. York swam to a time of 2:15.11, under Ethan Dang‘s record of 2:15.84 from 2016.

Before Dang, the record was held by Reece Whitley who swam a 2:16.48 in 2014, a time that still ranks second all-time for the age group. Dang now swims at Stanford while Whitley later went to swim for Cal.

Splitting equation

York Damn it
100 1:06.22 1:04.99
200 1:08.89 1:10.85
2:15.11 2:15.84

York was much slower than Dang, but was only able to close the race by two seconds. York lost significant time in the race when he came in with a 2:18.08 from the January Pro Series stop in Knoxville. That time previously ranked #4 all-time in the age group.

York has had a busy week of competition in Indianapolis and has his final individual race tomorrow in the 200 IM. He swam the 100 breaststroke earlier this week with a 1:03.77 in the final, exactly half a second slower than his 1:03.27 start time.
