Boy injured in reported explosion in Tuolumne County, officers investigating

SONORA – A minor was rushed to the hospital Saturday after suffering injuries in a reported explosion in Tuolumne County, the sheriff’s office reported.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., officers responded to Peaceful Valley Road in Sonora for reports of a boy injured in an explosion.

There they found materials consistent with the production of explosives.

The Calaveras/San Joaquin County Bomb Squad responded to the scene. In a Facebook post around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, officers said detectives were still on scene investigating.

The severity of the boy’s injuries is unknown, but he was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

According to the representatives, there is no danger to the public and the investigation is still ongoing.
