Austin Wells hit a sacrifice fly and Gleyber Torres added a two-run double in the 10th inning to seal the New York Yankees’ 11-8 victory over the host Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.

Tyler O’Neill (3-for-4, four RBI) hit key homers in the fifth and seventh innings for the Red Sox, but New York scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings to tie the score.

Aaron Judge went 4-for-4 with a double, homer, three RBIs and three runs to lead New York’s offense with 16 hits, making Sunday’s game the deciding game of their three-game series.

Judge hit an RBI double in the eighth inning, but Red Sox center fielder Jarren Duran started a relay that retired Juan Soto, the potential tying run.

In the ninth inning, Massachusetts’ Ben Rice doubled with one out and Trent Grisham doubled with two outs to bring in pinch runner Jahmai Jones against Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen, who blew a save for the third time this season.

In the 10th inning, Torres hit his double against the center field wall, against Chase Anderson (0-2).

New York’s Clay Holmes (2-4) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

O’Neill became the first player in Red Sox history to record three multi-homer games in a span of six games or fewer.

Boston starter Kutter Crawford and New York colleague Marcus Stroman each allowed three runs in the first inning.

After Alex Verdugo (3-for-6, three runs) hit a leadoff single in the Yankees’ first outing, Soto hit a two-run homer from the bullpen to give the visitors an early lead. It was Soto’s 27th of the season. Judge followed with a solo shot, his 37th homer, which leads the majors.

The Red Sox responded quickly, as Wilyer Abreu hit a one-out homerun to center field in the first inning to cut the lead to 2-1.

Masataka Yoshida and Rafael Devers singled back-to-back and O’Neill doubled with two runs to tie the score at 3-3.

In the second inning, Oswaldo Cabrera put the Yankees back on the board with a two-out home run. Abreu, the right fielder, appeared to have the ball in his glove but couldn’t hold on to it as it fell into the right-field stands. But RBI singles by Duran and Yoshida in a three-batter span helped Boston take a 5-4 lead.

The teams traded singles again in the fifth inning, with Judge tying the score at 5-5 with an RBI single to left before O’Neill hit his first solo home run over the Green Monster to give the Red Sox the lead again.

After O’Neill hit his second home run of the game and his 100th of his career over the Monster into deep left-center field in the seventh inning, David Hamilton scored three batters later with a double to left, which set up Dominic Smith for an insurance run.
