3 T20 leagues in a week for Mohammad Amir as PCB denies NOCs to top cricketers

Mohammad Amir has had a busy schedule of late, competing in three different T20 competitions in less than a week.

Amir played five matches for Derbyshire Falcons in the T20 Blast after featuring for Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup. His stay in the UK was extended when he was recruited by the Oval Invincibles for their opening match of The Hundred 2024 against Birmingham Phoenix.

Spencer Johnson, originally scheduled to join the Invincibles, was deferred due to commitments with Major League Cricket, leading to Amir’s inclusion for one match. Amir excelled, hitting 10 dot balls in his 15-ball spell to take 2-7, adding to the strong start for the reigning champions.

After completing his one-match deal in The Hundred, Amir travelled to Canada for the Global T20 Canada, where he joined the Vancouver Knights. He made his debut in this year’s tournament two days after his appearance in London, but was dismissed for a duck when the Knights batted first. He bowled two overs and gave away seven runs as the Toronto Nationals chased their target with over five overs remaining.

In his second match for Knights, he took a wicket and conceded 24 runs in four overs against Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

Meanwhile, the PCB has not issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to other Pakistani international players, including Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, preventing them from participating in the GT20.
