Cantonese restaurant named ‘best lunch spot in London’ opens new branch in Ealing

London-based traditional Cantonese restaurant Three Uncles is set to open its largest branch in September. The new Ealing location will be the group’s fifth London location.

The 50-cover, 1,450-square-foot space will feature an all-glass open-plan dining room with an outdoor terrace. And a new concept will launch there exclusively, the “18-Districts.”

Mo Kwok (Uncle Mo) said: “Our 18-Districts menu concept is our chance to serve a collection of Hong Kong’s favourite dishes to our customers, from the traditional like salted duck eggs to the more modern like our oven-baked pork chop on rice. We will be offering these dishes for a limited time only, and if the concept is well received in Ealing, we will introduce it to our other locations.”

The inaugural menu will feature chee cheong fun served with sesame sauce, sweet soy sauce and chilli, prawn toast and curry beef brisket on rice. There will also be oven-baked pork chop on rice, salted duck eggs, mango pudding and fried custard buns.

Three Uncles – which also has restaurants in Brixton Village, Liverpool Street, Camden Lock and St Paul’s – will also add a third beer to its range, unique to the Ealing location. It will join the restaurant’s Triple 8 Lager and Session IPA, all of which are designed to pair with the sweet-savoury-spicy flavour profiles of Cantonese dishes.

Chong Yew (Uncle Lim) said: “We plan to grow slowly and carefully while maintaining quality, with the aim of opening two to three stores annually with an eventual target of ten locations. We also hope to break our record week of 1,100 ducks sold in one week across all locations.”

And all the current locations seem to be very popular with customers, including the Liverpool Street which has a four-star rating on TripAdvisor. “I grew up in Hong Kong and this is one of the most authentic Cantonese roasts in the UK.

“I would highly recommend the three-meat combo with rice or two meats with lo mein (mixed noodles). The quality and bite of the noodles are very traditional and you always get the fresh, hand-wrapped lamb dumplings – it’s by far the best lunch spot in town,” wrote one reviewer.

Three uncles Ealing will be located at Unit 3A Filmworks Walk, London W5 5FA
