Five recruits LSU Football wants to turn around on the recruiting trail

This weekend marked the first weekend that LSU Football was able to host recruits again as the dead period came to an end. In addition to the top uncommitted recruits that LSU had received, the Tigers also hosted a handful of recruits who committed elsewhere. As LSU continues to build up its fourth-ranked recruiting class, watch for these five recruits that LSU will be looking to turn around.

Jaboree Antoine – Miami Commit

For the majority of his recruitment, Jaboree Antoine was committed to LSU before reopening his recruitment and this time choosing the Miami Hurricanes. Given that Antoine is one of the top recruits in the state of Louisiana, the LSU Tigers will continue their push to get Antoine back on board.

Phillip Wright – Michigan commitment

Initially, the LSU Tigers did not make signing the Destrehan native a priority, as they were eyeing receivers like Dakorien Moore, Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett. As this cycle has progressed, the LSU football program has ramped up its recruitment of Phillip Wright. Interest in Wright has increased in part because of his speed, as he ran a 10.46 in the 100-meter dash this spring. The Tigers brought Phillip Wright to campus for Bayou Splash, and it seems likely that Wright will join this class.

Kade Phillips – Texas commitment

When Kade Phillips chose Texas, it wasn’t a surprise, but it left the door open for LSU to trade him later. At Texas, Phillips is likely to play safety, while LSU recruited him as a cornerback, where they believe he could be a future first-round pick. It will be tough for LSU to sell the Texas native from the in-state Longhorns, but Corey Raymond’s track record will be a major factor in LSU’s pursuit.

Jaiden Braker – South Carolina Commitment

When it comes to linebackers this recruiting cycle, don’t panic if Blake Baker lands three-star recruits, as he’s already proven his talent when he was the first SEC coach to tender four-star Charles Ross. The Tigers received Jaiden Braker for Bayou Splash, officially starting Flip Watch when the Tigers tendered the impressive linebacker. On3’s Chad Simmons has stepped into the crystal ball in the Tigers’ favor, indicating that we may see a turnaround sooner rather than later.

Maison Dunn – Ole Miss Commit

It came as a bit of a surprise this weekend when LSU landed the Ole Miss commitment to Baton Rouge for Bayou Splash. Dunn is the prototypical Corey Raymond cornerback at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Ole Miss has struggled with recruiting lately, and the Tigers could give Ole Miss an even bigger blow if they trade Maison Dunn.
