Broncos could be forced to make a big move involving rookie QB Bo Nix

So far, Denver Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix has done pretty well in his first NFL offseason. So how far can he push the envelope? Every rookie quarterback is different; not all of them play as well as C.J. Stroud or as poorly as Bryce Young, for example. It’s a big reason why trying to draft a starting QB is one of the toughest things to do in professional sports.

Well, Broncos first-round rookie QB Bo Nix could become his own quarterback, as the rookie passers that came before him have absolutely no bearing on how well he plays in the NFL during his first season. In Denver, Nix has pretty much everything he needs to succeed; he has the head coach, the offensive line, and playmakers. Sure, the Broncos don’t have an elite playmaker, but the number of viable options they do have is astounding.

Really, the only spot on the offense that needs to improve is tight end, and so far, the early reports are looking good for third-year tight end Greg Dulcich. A lot can happen between now and the 2024 NFL trade deadline. Bo Nix could struggle to adjust to the speed of the NFL, but the opposite could also happen.

Just because the Denver Broncos have been a mostly bad football team the past few seasons doesn’t mean they can’t shine this year. What if Nix pays so well that the Broncos feel compelled to make a big move? What if one of the few disgruntled wide receivers becomes available in a trade?

Additionally, I think we also have to consider how stubborn Sean Payton is; and I don’t think that’s a bad thing either. Payton clearly wanted Nix on his team and clearly thinks he can be the franchise QB for the Denver Broncos. He may want to do everything in his power to make sure Nix works for the franchise and for his own legacy.

Could the Broncos actually feel compelled to make a big move involving Bo Nix? There may not be many big moves left to make, but the idea is worth considering.
