How many of the top 10 most popular hamburger restaurants in the country are located in Topeka?

Topeka residents will have to go elsewhere to sink their teeth into seven of the nation’s 10 best fast-food burgers, as voted by USA TODAY.

Only three of the delicious burgers on the list are found in the capital city, though the company that produces the fourth may open a location in Topeka.

USA TODAY announced the results on July 17, explaining the process used to determine which fast-food restaurant chain serves the best burgers.

“USA TODAY 10Best editors and a panel of burger lovers got to work to crown the absolute best choices on these menus,” the post reads. “Our readers then voted on their favorites.”

Which burgers in Topeka are on the list?

The three burgers available in Topeka that earned a spot in USA Today’s top 10 are as follows:

• The cheeseburger at Five Guys, which came in fifth. Five Guys has had a Topeka location at 1191 SW Wanamaker Road since 2014. “Legions love the hand-formed burgers cooked on a grill at Five Guys,” USA TODAY reports. “Expect American cheese melted between fresh patties and piled on a toasted sesame seed bun with all the toppings you can imagine.”

• Culver’s Double ButterBurger Cheese, which finished seventh. Culver’s has a location in Topeka at 1035 SW Wanamaker Road. “It’s hard to resist the Double ButterBurger Cheese that made Wisconsin a serious contender in the Civil War,” USA TODAY reports. “It’s made with fresh, never frozen beef that’s seared to order and topped with real American cheese from the Badger State.”

• The Whopper at Burger King, which finished eighth. Burger King has locations in Topeka at 1800 SW 10th, 2110 NW Topeka Blvd., 2817 SE California Ave, 3690 SW Topeka Blvd. and 6002 SW 10th. “The world’s second-largest fast-food hamburger chain introduced us to the Whopper in 1957,” USA TODAY reports. “Each year, Burger King sells more than two billion of the burgers, made with flame-grilled beef and topped with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, pickles, ketchup and sliced onions — all on a sesame seed bun.”

Coming in at No. 6 on USA Today’s list was Whataburger’s Double Meat Whataburger. Last September, Topeka City Council members heard about a possible location on the southwest corner of SW 32nd and Topeka Boulevard.

“Brained in Texas, where everything is bigger, Whataburger never serves frozen beef on a big bun,” according to USA Today. “For the hungry, the Double Meat Whataburger serves two 100 percent pure beef patties with tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles and mustard.”

What other burgers are at or near the top of the list?

Here are the four best burgers on USA TODAY’s list:

  1. The Double Char from The Habit Burger Grill in California.
  2. The Double-Double from In-N-Out Burger in California.
  3. The BBQ Rodeo Burger from BurgerFi.
  4. The Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box.

Which burgers complete the list?

These two burgers round out USA Today’s top 10:

9. Carl’s Jr. Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Although Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are owned by the same parent company — and Topeka has two Hardee’s locations — Hardee’s does not offer the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger on its menu.

10. The 1921 Slider by White Castle.
