Brownsburg’s Chloé Dygert Wins Bronze at Olympics

PARIS — Brownsburg native Chloé Dygert, a member of the U.S. women’s cycling team, won the bronze medal in the women’s time trial on Saturday.

Dygert is world champion in two different women’s cycling events: the individual pursuit, which takes place on the track, and the time trial, which takes place on the road.

In 2020, she suffered a dangerous crash in Italy, tearing her quadriceps and nearly ending her career. Fortunately, she recovered, but she suffered an Achilles injury and a COVID-19 diagnosis earlier this year.

During Saturday’s time trial, Dygert reportedly crashed on a bend, dropping her to third place. She was beaten by Great Britain’s Anna Henderson for the silver medal and Australia’s Grace Brown for the gold medal.

Despite taking home bronze herself, Dygert said she wanted to outdo third place. “I don’t come to a race to lose,” she said. “I’m not going to be a bad loser, but everyone comes to win. Everyone who’s not on the top step will say the same thing. I just have to get better.”
