Three dead, one injured in separate crashes on state roads over the weekend | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Three people were killed and another injured in three separate traffic crashes on Arkansas roadways Friday and Saturday, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

Cadyn Clark Haddox, 18, of Monticello, died around 4:25 a.m. Friday when the 2007 Lexus he was driving north on Hughway 35 in Drew County veered off the right side of the road as Haddox made a right turn and lost control of the vehicle. After striking a tree, the vehicle overturned and landed on its roof, the report said.

Kasey James Stewart, 18, of Monticello, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Drew Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, the report said.

The officer investigating the accident reported that the weather was rainy and the road was wet at the time of the accident.

A minor, whose name and age have not been released, died around 11:42 a.m. Saturday when the Honda CRF 80F dirt bike the minor was riding west on Main St. in Benton County was struck head-on by a Dodge Dakota that was traveling east as the two vehicles approached a curve in the road. The Dodge Dakota came to rest on the south side of the road, the preliminary report said.

Dakota Gardner, 34, of Hackett, died around 4:45 p.m. Saturday when the 2001 Dodge he was driving south on Highway 45 veered to the right side of the road as Gardner was making a left turn. The vehicle struck a tree, overturned and struck a second tree before coming to a rest, facing west, the report said.

Officers investigating each accident on Saturday reported that the weather was clear and the roads were dry at the time of the incidents.
