Florida and LSU named leaders for WR Naeshaun Montgomery

The Gators are looking for another receiver to join Joshua Moore and Vernell Brown as part of Florida’s 2025 wide receiver class. Four-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery has been on his way to Florida since his official visit to Gainesville on May 31. The Miami Central High School product was in Gainesville on Thursday and returned Saturday for Florida’s Grill in the Ville cookout.

“It was just a fun day. We did a lot of activities and I really had a good time with the coaches,” Montgomery said of the barbecue.

The highlight of Montgomery’s trip was getting together with the team and seeing true freshman QB DJ Lagway in action.

“Watching OTAs and watching DJ (Lagway) spin the ball. He can really throw it,” Montgomery said of the highlight of his trip.

Montgomery previously shared with Gator Country that he wants to play with a good quarterback at the next level, and he struck up a relationship with former five-star DJ Lagway this weekend.

“He’s a really cool dude,” Montgomery said of Lagway. “His mindset is really focused and he wants to get the job done.”

The 6’2, 185-pound speedy receiver announced his top six picks on July 23, which included Florida, LSU, Penn State, Alabama, Oregon and FSU. However, two schools are currently standing out in Montgomery’s recruitment.

“There’s definitely Florida and LSU,” Montgomery told Gator Country. “From the time I got an offer, they were still communicating and stuff like that. I feel like I can play at those two schools. I can definitely see myself playing at all six, but those are the leaders right now.”

Montgomery claimed that Florida is the school pushing him the hardest since he announced his top six picks.

“They all put their shoulders to the wheel, but I feel like Florida has really stepped up,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery told the media that he knows which school he wants to commit to by his August 25 commitment date. Montgomery is unsure if he will take any more visits, but nothing has been scheduled yet.
