Fawzan Hassan, who is also non-verbal and autistic, was last seen around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Bohrer Park.

He was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and blue and white sneakers.

Montgomery police and firefighters searched for the child throughout the night and deployed drones with assistance from the Maryland National Capital Police – Montgomery County, authorities said.

According to a press release, residents are urged to check their properties, including porches and patios, swimming pools, outbuildings, unlocked cars and nearby playgrounds.

According to authorities, it is important to approach an autistic child who cannot speak calmly and slowly.

A nonverbal autistic child may not respond to his or her name. In this case, try using other cues, such as visual cues or familiar objects, to get the child’s attention.
