Police ask for public’s help as they continue search for 6-year-old autistic boy

Montgomery County police are asking for the public’s help as officers search for a 6-year-old boy who disappeared Saturday afternoon from Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg.

Fawzan Hassan, who is autistic and nonverbal, was last seen in the park at 506 S. Frederick Ave. around 3 p.m., according to police. He is described as 3 feet tall and 43 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and white and silver sneakers, according to the news release.

As search crews continue to look for the boy, authorities are urging residents in the area of ​​the park to “check their properties, including under porches and patios, swimming pools, outbuildings, unlocked cars, and nearby playgrounds,” police said in a statement Sunday. Police also asked residents to review surveillance video from their homes.

Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews searched the park’s ponds Saturday night. Search crews continue to search for the boy and “have deployed drones with the assistance of Maryland National Capital Police – Montgomery County,” police said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Fawzan Hassan is asked to call 911.
