Photos: Fans flock to hillside in Germany to watch free Taylor Swift concert

MUNICH (AP) — Thousands of Taylor Swift fans have received free tickets to her concerts in Munich, on a grassy knoll near the concert venue.

The Swifties filled Olympic Hill, or Olympiaberg, one of the highest points in the southern German city for the second day in a row on Sunday, giving them a high vantage point to watch the singer’s sold-out concert at the nearby Olympic Stadium.

On Saturday they braved the heat, which reached 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit), and had taken their spots hours before the concert started.

According to the dpa news agency, police estimated that around 25,000 people had gathered on the hill on Saturday.

On Sunday the fans returned and the grassy knoll was once again so packed that from a distance it looked like an anthill.

Instead of discouraging free concertgoers, the concert organizer handed out water and emergency blankets to people waiting to protect themselves from the sun, dpa reported.

Sunday’s concert is Swift’s last in Germany as part of her Eras tour. She heads to the Polish capital Warsaw next week for three concerts, from Thursday to Saturday.
