Man accused of shooting and killing missing Southern student extradited to Mississippi

WEST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A suspect accused in the gunshot death of a missing Southern University student has been extradited to Mississippi.

Derek Hollins, 21, was extradited to Wilkinson County to face murder charges, according to Sheriff Brian Spillman of the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.


The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office has issued arrest warrants for the three suspects. The other two suspects are Calajia Jack, 20, of St. Francisville, and Allyah Martin, 21, of Zachary.

Hollins, Jack and Martin are accused of conspiring to lure Steven Harris from West Feliciana to Mississippi, where he was allegedly shot and killed.

Harris was reported missing on July 17. On July 20, Mississippi police officers were notified of Harris’ disappearance and a search party was formed on July 23. According to investigators, a body believed to be Harris’ was found in Wilkinson County with multiple gunshot wounds.
