Warmer temperatures on the way again

WEATHER DISCUSSION: Another day of slightly below-average temperatures to close out the weekend. Highs were in the low to upper 80s with lows in the 50s. Parts of North Central can expect mostly clear skies tonight, while Central Montana will see mostly cloudy skies. You can also expect widespread fog. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue to taper off through the night, with the best chance of development south of the Lewistown-Helena line. Expect a drier night tonight and a dry Monday as well before gusty winds pick up again.

Westerly flow returns on Monday with winds up to 30 mph, slight chance of precipitation, drier conditions and increased fire concerns. Another shortwave trough is expected to move across the northwestern US on Tuesday, bringing increased chances for showers/thunderstorms. More moisture in the atmosphere will increase the chances for wetter thunderstorms, while temperatures on Tuesday will cool 5-10 degrees from the previous day, dropping temperatures below normal.

After the upper trough moves east on Wednesday, the upper ridge follows and builds through the weekend. This will bring warmer and drier conditions. Most lower locations will have afternoon temperatures rising into the low to mid 90s Thursday through Sunday with drier conditions.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear with lows around 10 degrees and a wind force of 9.5 km/h.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Widespread haze. Mostly clear to mostly cloudy with lows in the 50’s and winds 5 to 10 mph.

MONDAY: Widespread haze. Mostly to partly sunny, then partly cloudy with highs in the 90’s and lows in the upper 50’s/60’s. Winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
