1. Meetings of the Council Committee: Three council committees are meeting today. The Transport and Environment and Government Operations committees are holding a joint working session today at 9:30 am

The Spatial Planning, Housing and Parks Committee will meet at 2:30 PM for an update on the production of the Accessory Dwelling Unit.

All meetings are open to the public, broadcast live on County Cable Montgomery and streamed live on YouTube. Details of each committee meeting can be found on the County Council website.

2. Briefing by the President of the Council: Council President Andrew Friedson will hold his weekly press conference today at 11:30 a.m. He will discuss two bills that are up for a vote at Tuesday’s council meeting. Watch the briefing live on the council’s Facebook page here.

3. Launch of new ‘ePlans’ software: The Department of Permitting Services is launching an updated version of ePlans, the software customers use to file plans electronically. Customer training will be available on Monday, August 5, and Tuesday, August 6. Training videos are available on the DPS website.

4. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council will not meet today. The Rockville Mayor and Council will meet for a regular session at 7:00 p.m. The agenda can be found online here.

5. Olympic athlete Thea LaFond: MCM presents a documentary about the world’s #1 triple jumper and Montgomery County resident, Thea LaFond, who gave MCM unprecedented access to help her prepare for the Paris Olympics.
