Hamilton indoor netball 2024 sees epic battle between Align Health Rangers and University

It was an epic battle between Align Health Rangers And Premier of the University of Waikato, with both teams having their ANZ Championship players and NNL (National Netball League) players back in their teams.

This meant that the intensity level was higher than in previous meetings.

In the first quarter the score was 17-17, before half time University Premier shot ahead with 27-26. After three quarters the score was again equal (42-42) and at the final whistle the score was 53-53.

For University Premier, Mya Meadows as captain at goal defense, led by example. Kate Taylor at goal shoot and goal attack shot well and the other shooters complimented her. It was an exciting match.

For Rangers Premier it was an evenly matched game with both teams showing a high level of skill. It was back and forth throughout the game with each team taking the lead at times and then taking it back.

The team was pleased with the fact that they were able to use the bench and make numerous smooth substitutions throughout the game.

HGHS Langman And Allied HOB Collins Premier also had a close game. HGHS Langman led 13 goals to 9 at the end of the first quarter and led 23 goals to 21 at halftime.

In the third quarter Allied HOB came back and led 30-29. HGHS Langman did enough in the last quarter to secure the victory 43-39.

HGHS Langman made several changes and tried different combinations throughout the game but kept Calais Topia-Chesley shooting on goal and Jordahna Matthes on goal. They were a credit to the team who kept their composure in the last quarter to come back and take the win.

Allied HOB Premier had to work hard at the beginning to get the combinations going, but the second quarter was calmer and more controlled.

Dani Close was an excellent goalkeeper in the circle, setting up good defensive structures to consistently prevent ball loss.

Sammie Sullivan was also a key player on the wing defense, losing the ball over the circle and inside the middle of the field. Although it wasn’t a win, the team was proud of their performance on the field.

FTNC Prime Minister were too strong for this week HGHS Senior Girls Premier, who played with only seven. At half time FTNC Premier led 38 to 19 and they won 64 to 42. The game was lost in the first two quarters and the last quarter was a draw.

FTNC Premier Reserve also had a win and despite a tense first half in their match against Marist Verdettes Premier 1they were strong in the second half. At half time the score was 31 to 24 and the final score was 63 to 41.

Prime Minister B

Melville Vetora Premier were delighted with their victory over Northern United Sports Club Mamba.

At the end of the first quarter, Mamba led 10-8, but at halftime this difference had been reduced to just one goal: 21-20.

At the end of the third quarter, Melville Premier had a 32-29 lead and they won the game 41-39.

Vetora Melville Premier were strong in the middle pass as a young team and continued to impress every week.

Lakyn Moeke in goal attack, working with Angela Jackson in shooting on goal, had excellent games in the shooting circle. There was also excellent defence from Mila Graham at the other end of the pitch.

Everything fell into place for this young team, including their trust in each other.

Mamba were missing a number of players through injury and made several changes, making the game feel scrappy despite taking an early lead. All credit to Melville for their win.

Align Health Rangers Premier Reserve led from start to finish in their match against Waikato Diocesan for Girls Premier.

At halftime they were ahead 39-17 and they won the game 68-39. The last quarter was exciting.

University of Waikato Premier Reserve started their victory strongly over Premier of St. Paul’s Collegiate and at halftime the score was 32-14. They won the game 58-33.

Prime Minister of Saint Peter were dominant in their play against Marist Verdettes Premier 2 and at halftime they led 35-8 and won the game 70-22.
