Police reports in Malta can now be filed entirely online

Police reports can now be filed online with the police’s new Remote Reporting Unit (RRU).

“Now you can effortlessly submit reports from the comfort of your home or workplace using the devices you already know. Say goodbye to waiting and unnecessary trips to the station – we’re here to help you every step of the way,” the website reads.

This service allows people to communicate directly with a police officer online by filling out a form on the website.

Here you need to detail what is being reported and select a date and time that is convenient for a police officer to call back via Whatsapp, Google Meet, Facetime, Teams or a regular phone call. The preferred method is determined by the person filing a report.

People can report lost items, damage and other non-urgent issues. The officer taking the report will log it into the police system and a copy of the report will be sent by email.

The police remind that in case of emergency, one should always call 112 or 119. The public still has the option, if they feel more comfortable, to physically report to a police station.
