15-year-old girl killed, man injured in East Bay shooting

A 15-year-old girl was killed and a man was injured in a shooting in Hayward this weekend, police said.

The shooting was reported Sunday morning in the 900 block of West Tennyson Road, Hayward police said in a news release. Officers arrived at 11:15 a.m. and found the teenage girl suffering from gunshot wounds, the news release said.

She was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries, police said.

A man who had left the scene after being wounded in the same shooting was found near the 28000 block of Ruus Road, the news release said. That man, a 41-year-old Hayward resident, was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, which were not life-threatening, police said.

It did not appear the two victims knew each other, police said. Their identities were known but not immediately released by authorities.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which was Hayward’s eighth homicide of the year, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Navas at 510-293-7176.
