Major supermarkets announce 124 stores in Western Australia to be sold

Kroger and Albertsons have been working on a merger since 1999. September 2023. For the first time, a long list of stores and distribution centers to be sold was announced.

Many of these are located throughout Washington State.

The new agreement between the two chains is intended to comply with the antitrust rules of the US Federal Trade Commission.

All stores being divested will be sold to C&S Wholesale Grocers.

The released list now shows that Safeway, Albertsons, QFC and Haggen stores across Washington are involved in the sale.
