Augusta Men’s Basketball will play an exhibition game against Clemson on Wednesday, October 30

AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta men’s basketball team will play an exhibition game against Clemson University (NCAA Division I) at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina, on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

“A big thank you to coach Brad Brownell and his staff for allowing us to return to Littlejohn Coliseum to play them,” said head coach Dip meter. “Clemson is coming off their Elite 8 appearance, and this is a great opportunity for our returning and incoming players to play against such a great program. Hopefully our Jaguar fans will come out on the road to see the 2024-25 team play.”

The Tigers and Jaguars will face each other for the fourth time in program history, having last met on November 2, 2017. The Jaguars are returning All-Conference performers Demitri Gardner And Ja’Queze Kirby as well as senior center Maximilian Amadasun.

The Augusta University men’s basketball team is led by head coach Dip meterOn May 10, 2004, Metress was introduced as the fifth head coach in the program’s history. He previously led the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (1996–04) and was an assistant for the Jaguars under Clint Bryant (1989–95). He has never had a losing season in his 16 seasons at the helm of the Jaguars. A two-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year, Metress and the Jags hosted five consecutive NCAA Regional Tournaments from 2007–11 and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight three straight seasons. In 2023, Metress led Augusta to the NCAA National Championship Game. He was named South Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2007, PBC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2019, Southeast Region Coach of the Year in 2009 and NABC Southeast District Coach of the Year in 2011.


Augusta men’s hoops has retired four numbers in its 52-year history: Ben Madgen (1), Keshun Sherrill (10), Tyrekus ‘AJ’ Bowman (23) and Keenan Mann (32). The Jaguars have reached the NCAA Tournament 15 times and won their region four times.
