Route 309 will be repaired and repaved in the coming months

The 16-kilometer stretch of the busy road will be replaced with a smoother, safer driving surface, officials said.



WHITEMARSH, PA — A 10-mile stretch of Route 309 will be repaired and repaved in the coming months in Whitemarsh, Upper Dublin and Springfield.

The project starts on Monday 12 August and will last until mid-October, every day from 9pm to 5am.

According to PennDOT, bituminous material will be used “to seal the road and provide motorists with a smoother driving surface.”

Officials said delays and congestion are expected.

According to PennDOT, work will take place in the following areas:

  • Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) between the Susquehanna Road and Springfield interchanges
  • Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) ramps at the Route 73 (Church Road) Interchange
  • Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) ramps at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange
  • Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) ramps at the Highland Avenue Interchange
  • Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) collector road between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Highland Avenue interchanges
