$2 Million Powerball Ticket Sold Near Atlanta

A $2 million Powerball ticket was sold in Georgia, according to the July 24 drawing results, and another for $50,000 was sold before Saturday’s drawing. The Georgia Lottery confirmed on Facebook that the $2 million ticket was drawn in Powder Springs, but the lottery could not be reached for comment on whether the prize had been claimed as of Monday. The $50,000 ticket was sold in Peachtree Corners when a player matched four of the five numbers plus the Powerball.

But while Georgia has a new millionaire, no one has won the jackpot yet. The jackpot has now grown to over $140 million and could be much higher.

Where can lottery winners in Georgia redeem their tickets?

Prices $600 or less can be claimed at any Georgia Lottery retailer, Georgia Lottery office or by mail. For security reasons, many retailers do not keep large amounts of cash on hand, so they may pay you with cash, a money order or a combination of cash and a money order.

Prices over $600 must be picked up at the Georgia Lottery headquarters or a Georgia Lottery district office, or mailed to the Georgia Lottery for payment. Prices up to $25,000 You can also claim your credit at the GLC kiosks at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the credit will typically be paid the same day.

Powerball players select five numbers from 1 to 69 for the standard white balls, and then select one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. They can choose their own lucky numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly select their numbers.

To win, you must combine one of nine ways:

5 white balls + 1 red Powerball = Grand Prize.
5 white balls = $1 million.
4 white balls + 1 red Powerball = $50,000.
4 white balls = $100.
3 white balls + 1 red Powerball = $100.
3 white balls = $7.
2 white balls + 1 red Powerball = $7.
1 white ball + 1 red Powerball = $4.
1 red Powerball = $4.

There is a chance to multiply your winnings by two, three, four, five and ten times via the Power Play for an additional $1 per play. Players can multiply non-jackpot winnings by up to 10 times when the jackpot is $150 million or less. All prizes are fixed cash amounts, except for the top prize.
