Celtics, Timberwolves added to Sixers’ 2024 preseason schedule

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to embark on a highly anticipated 2024-25 season after a busy summer highlighted by the arrival of Paul George. The 9-time All-Star signed a four-year, $212 million contract as the organization’s most significant addition over the summer.

But before the season can begin, it’s important to play some warm-up games and start that process in the preseason. The Sixers take on the Orlando Magic on the road in the exhibition schedule on October 18, and now two more teams have been added to the schedule.

The Sixers will take on the reigning champion Boston Celtics at TD Garden on October 12, marking the first time the Cs will see the new-look Sixers on the court.

Along with the Celtics, the Sixers will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the game will take place in Iowa City, IA, which is a homecoming of sorts for coach Nick Nurse:

The Sixers head coach will return to his home state when his team plays in Des Moines, Iowa, which is about 90 miles from Nurse’s hometown of Carroll, Iowa. Additionally, Nurse will be on the sidelines at his former hometown, Well Fargo Arena.

The preseason is a time for the Sixers to begin the process of getting themselves in tune and readying themselves for a long-awaited 2024-25 season. The addition of George and the other moves Philadelphia has made will be a big help in the title fight.
