Theater News: Annapolis Children’s Theater Announces Kickoff of Public Campaign to Transform CTA into an Arts Center

Annapolis, MD – Children’s Theatre of Annapolis (CTA) is pleased to announce the launch of a public fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $350,000. This ambitious Expanding our reach The initiative aims to transform CTA into a vibrant arts centre, strengthening its role as a cultural cornerstone in the community.

For more than six decades, CTA has been a beacon for young talent, fostering creativity and providing exceptional theatre experiences for children and families. The proposed Arts Center will expand CTA’s offerings, with new programs, classes and events that appeal to a broader range of artistic interests and communities.

With the transformation of our existing annex into a state-of-the-art multifunctional arts center where students from 5 to 18 years old learn to dance, act and sing, CTA positions itself as a regional leader in the field of arts and culture. This campaign expands the CTA campus with two new classrooms and a black box theater with more than 75 seats.

The growth of CTA will not only bring new life to our campus, but will also provide us with a thriving new space where we can expand our programming to support a greater number of children from underserved communities. CTA plans to make this black box theater accessible to other community groups, as it will be the only one in the region available for general rental.

The campaign kickoff marks the beginning of a journey that invites the entire community to participate. Contributions will support the new facilities and the development of diverse arts programs. We are also proud to announce that we have already secured $800,000 of our $1,150,000 goal from generous donors, the State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, who believe in our mission. This early momentum is a testament to the strong foundation we have and the collective commitment to our shared goals.
