Swim coach charged with voyeurism in Arizona, former coach of Mandell JCC Sharks in West Hartford – We-Ha

David Laudati was arrested Monday in Newington by the US Marshals and Newington police on charges of voyeurism and conspiracy to commit voyeurism.

A 41-year-old man wanted on an extradition warrant from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona was arrested Monday morning in Newington by representatives of the U.S. Marshals Service District of Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Newington Police Department.

According to press releases from both the U.S. Marshals Service and the Newington Police Department, David Laudati, 41, was arrested at approximately 11:06 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at a residence on East Robbins Street in Newington. The charges in the arrest warrant include 11 counts of voyeurism and eight counts of attempted voyeurism. The charges stem from an investigation initiated by the Buckeye, Arizona, Police Department in September 2023.

He is also being charged as a fugitive from justice, according to the US Marshals Service.

“Prior to the investigation, Laudati was employed as a swimming coach. Following the investigation, the Buckeye Police Department requested assistance from the U.S. Marshal in locating and apprehending Laudati,” the U.S. Marshals Service said in a press release.

Before coaching swim in Arizona, Laudati coached the Mandell JCC Sharks swim team in West Hartford. His teams were successful, with many swimmers excelling at the state and regional levels, according to online data from 2014-2017.

Information about the exact position Laudati held at the Mandell JCC, and when and why he left, was not available Monday evening.

Laudati is being held on $500,000 bail pending extradition to Maricopa County, Arizona. He is scheduled to appear in New Britain District Court on Tuesday, according to Newington police.
