Seth Rollins’ Rules for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre

As expected/hoped, Seth Rollins showed up in a flashy referee shirt with a turtleneck.

While fans didn’t boo CM Punk, they seemed to be on Drew McIntyre’s side the entire way. There were a few times where CM Punk and even Drew McIntyre practically begged fans to chant Punk throughout their promos. Fans obliged.

Every time McIntyre complained about being screwed, fans cheered. McIntyre even threatened to stop Punk’s heart (“I won’t stop until your heart does”) and fans still cheered for him.

Drew McIntyre teased Punk with his fan-made bracelet. At this point, the bracelet will either play in the finish or there will be cameos from Larry the Dog and/or AJ Lee. All parties played their roles perfectly, but Drew shined the most in this segment.

Seth Rollins Rules Segment Grade: B+

The Creed Brothers defeat Otis and Akira Tozawa

Brutus struggled to stay on the ropes throughout the match.

After a double back superplex win over Creeds, The Wyatt Sicks entered the ring and were back in full force. Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan and Joe Gacy took off their masks and the fans went wild. We finally saw the first semblance of an attack from The Wyatt Sicks. Nikki Cross hit a diving senton on Chad Gable and Lumis and Gacy hit stereo Uranages.

The only complaint I have about The Wyatt Sicks is that they brought in Otis’ heat. While Otis is still well beyond his push, WWE’s booking has gone from building up to Otis’ revenge to building up to Chad Gable’s reckoning with the Wyatts.

The Creeds vs. Otis and Akira Tozawa Grade: B-

Bronson Reed defeats Sheamus

Michael Cole called Reed a human bowling ball, a less than intimidating nickname for Bronson.

Sheamus hit a crazy impressive White Noise off the middle rope for a nearfall. These two worked hard.

Reed won with a Tsunami after Pete Dunne eliminated Sheamus with a Tsunami.

Bronson Reed vs. Sheamus Rating: B

Jey Uso defeats Carlito

SummerSlam is a very short card, so there are a lot of top stars without a match. Surprisingly, it is Jey Uso.

Tensions remain high on Judgement Day after Liv Morgan reportedly trashed their dressing room in a fit of rage.

Jey Uso defeated Carlito with a spear and then ate Carlito’s half-eaten apple.

Jey Uso vs. Carlito Grade: C+

Karrion Kross defeats Xavier Woods

Karrion Kross cut a decent promo on Xavier Woods before the match, dissing Minnesota for some cheap heat, calling Kofi Kingston a “one-armed bastard” and even mocking Kofi for losing to Brock Lesnar in six seconds.

As with most of The New Day’s matches against Karrion Kross, Xavier Woods could not overcome the outside interference enough to deter Kross.

After this match there was a great video package with Liv Morgan breaking down before her confrontation with Rhea Ripley. Something tells me Dom and Liv will be back together by the end of that night.

Karrion Kross vs. Xavier Woods Grade: C+

Sami Zayn defeats Dominik Mysterio via DQ

Bron Breakker played a brilliant role in a backstage scene where he made fun of comedian Sami Zayn. Bron thought he did it better than wrestling.

Dominik Mysterio was once again bullied into facing a top star because of Rhea Ripley. Once again he lost, but this time by disqualification. These are the building blocks for Mysterio to take on Rhea on Saturday.

Backstage, Carlito asked why he was left alone against Jey. Both Carlito and Dominik were licking their wounds, and it was clear that Ripley and Priest were the alphas in Judgment Day—for now.

Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio Grade: B-

Deville, Baszler and Stark defeated Carter, Chance and Valkyria

Poor Chance, Carter and Valkyria stood in the ring for an eternity as WWE continued to air SummerSlam clips.

Team Deville won a cold match against the babyfaces, but then Damage CTRL came back. After all the talk about Damage CTRL changing, the big change was new Damage CTRL face paint on their cheeks.

Six-Women Tag Match Rating: C

GUNTHER defeated Finn Balor

Finn Balor made it clear that he didn’t want Judgment Day’s help against GUNTHER. Before this match, GUNTHER cut a promo in an empty arena about Balor not living up to his potential because he chose to hang out with the “weirdos” of Judgment Day.

Michael Cole called GUNTHER’s feud with Priest a “class war.”

Finn Balor kicked out of a power bomb, but he succumbed to a sleeper. Damian Priest was fighting GUNTHER when the show went off the air, and I have to say WWE did a great job of creating a Punk-McIntyre-esque hatred between Priest and GUNTHER in a matter of weeks.

Finn Balor vs. GUNTHER Rating: B
