Dr. Jamal H. Bryant, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett to Keynote Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Conference in Atlanta – On Common Ground News

ATLANTA – The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) is holding its 51stst annual legislative conference this weekend, August 2-4, at Atlanta Metropolitan College, 1630 Metropolitan Parkway SW

Legislators, elected officials, community leaders and strategic partners will gather to discuss key issues under the GLBC 2024 theme, “Redeeming the Soul of America, Testing1, 2, 3.”

The conference will begin with a reception on Friday, August 2 from 8:30-11:30 p.m. at Bar Ti Amo, 3199 West Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta.

Dr. Jamal H. Bryant, pastor of megachurch New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and much talked about news, will be the keynote speaker at the GLBC Unity Breakfast on Saturday, August 3 at 9:00 a.m. at Atlanta Metropolitan College.

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who was the only Black freshman and youngest Black legislator in Texas during the 87th legislative session, will be the keynote speaker at the GLBC Women’s Empowerment Luncheon on Saturday, August 3 at noon at Atlanta Metropolitan College.

The Caucus will hold a worship service on Sunday, August 4 at 9:45 a.m. at Enon Baptist Church, 3502 Enon Road, College Park, GA

There will be several panels during the conference, including “The Young Leaders Panel,” which focuses on young African-American Democrats and young African-American Republicans. The American Civil Liberties Union will host two panels, one focusing on the “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act” and “Freedom, Breaking the Cycle on the Ban,” which focuses on the recent bans of African-American history textbooks in Georgia.

GLBC awards recording artist CeeLo Green with the GLBC Lifetime Music Legacy Award and actress/comedian Terri J. Vaughn with the GLBC Entertainment Award.
