Arizona first baseman Christian Walker was forced to leave the Diamondbacks’ game against the Washington Nationals on Monday in Phoenix because of an oblique muscle injury.

Kevin Newman replaced Walker at first base early in the fourth inning.

It was not known when Walker was injured, but in the third inning he made a long run down the first base line to right field to catch a foul pop by Ildemaro Vargas. After the grab, Walker quickly turned to throw the ball back to the infield.

Walker was struck out in his lone at-bat on Monday.

In 107 games this season, Walker is hitting .254 and leads the Diamondbacks with 71 RBIs. He shares the team lead with 23 homers.
