Angela Thieman Dino | Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Angela Thieman-Dino was the first faculty member of the Engineering Leadership Program, teaching the first course in the spring of 2012. Angela is an alumna of the University of Colorado Boulder, receiving her BA, MA, and Ph.D. in anthropology. As a cultural anthropologist, her ethnographic research has focused on youth in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina and on African American high school girls in urban Denver. She previously taught the Presidents Leadership Class, Engineering Management Program, Leeds Scholars Program, and Leadership Studies Minor, and was a visiting professor at CU Law School. She serves on the advisory board of the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program and is particularly passionate about initiating student-driven interdisciplinary research. Off campus, she has served on the boards and faculty of local and national human rights, development, and education organizations, including Amnesty International USA, the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center (for torture survivors living in Colorado), United to End Genocide, Educate! Africa and Watson University’s Global Program for Social Entrepreneurs.
