Pedestrians hit on State Road 46

COLUMBUS, India – Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers were called to a traffic accident at State Road 46 (W. Jonathan Moore Pike) and Two Mile House Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a car driven by an 18-year-old male was traveling eastbound on W. Jonathan Moore Pike and struck two female pedestrians in the roadway just east of the intersection with Two Mile House Road.

A 68-year-old pedestrian was transported to Columbus Regional Health (CRH) with minor injuries to her leg and hip. The other pedestrian, 41, also had injuries to her leg and hip. She was initially treated at CRH, but was then transported via Life Line to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

The driver cooperated with the investigation and was not injured.

The CPD Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene, partially closing the road for approximately two hours.
