Louisiana: A US nurse was kicked out of a restaurant she frequently visited because the staff thought that her outfit was “too revealing” and violated their dress code. Y’Mine McClanahan wore a floral top along with a lengthy skirt that reached her feet while visiting Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood in Baton Rouge.

McClanahan said that she has worn the same dress to a separate location “SEVERAL times”. However, she was asked to leave the outlet in Jefferson-Baton Rouge about the restaurant’s recent dress code policy.

‘Too revealing’ outfit

“People can wear jeans, regular t shirts, their waitresses can wear mini skirts with their butt hanging out and fish nets but my set is too revealing for the ‘atmosphere’ they’re trying to create. Never again. I’m done with Stabs,” she wrote on Facebook.

She added, “The craziest thing about Stab’s is the hostess was just about to seat me until the “owner” stopped her from doing so.”

McClanahan posted a video of the argument with the steakhouse’s co-owner, Dori Murvin.

“This is just too revealing at the top,” Murvin is head saying in the video while pointing towards her chest.

When McClanahan questioned the steakhouse’s waitress’s outfit, Murvin brushed off the critique.

Murvin said that the dress code was buckled down. “It’s been like this for a while now,” he said.

McClanahan asked, “How long is a while?”, and added that that had worn the same dress to a different outlet of the restaurant two weeks before.

McClanahan said that she received “several compliments” on her dress when she visited Zea Rotisserie & Bar later, The New York Post reported.

According to Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood’s website, the dress code policy is “business casual” and “proper attire is required” for all patrons. “Tank Tops” are not allowed.

The incident left netizens shocked. One user said, “So you can’t wear that but the waitress can wear what she had on make that make sense.” Another wrote, “AWFUL!! It’s not even revealing or nothing. I’m sorry sis!”

Restaurant responds

Stabs, in a statement to WAFB, said, “We have a dress code policy that we ask our customers to observe. A few times a month we speak with our guests about their attire including asking them to remove baseball hats in our restaurant. Contrary to reports our attire policy is not new, it has been in effect for over three years now.”

It added, “We spoke with a guest yesterday about her attire and she pointed out that we have waitstaff dressed in a manner that might not meet the standard of our attire policy. For the last several weeks we have actually been working on a different uniform so that we are not asking a different standard for our customers than we are requiring of our staff.”
