Jesse Ventura Says ‘Hell Has Frozen Over’, Meets CM Punk on WWE RAW

Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura has admitted that many may have been surprised by his appearance on WWE RAW, given his past issues with the company. The WWE Hall of Famer/former Minnesota Governor was in attendance for the July 29 episode of The Red Brand, which took place in St. Paul, Minnesota. Taking to Twitter, WWE cameras shared Ventura’s meeting with WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.

In a tweet of his own, Ventura compared his unlikely return to CM Punk’s comeback at Survivor Series 2023, saying hell has frozen over again.

The WWE Hall of Famer also shared a photo with CM Punk, adding that he returned to the WWE for moments like this.

Jesse Ventura’s WWE Past

Although he was a wrestler and announcer for the WWF for many years, Ventura’s return to WWE came as a surprise. In 1991, Ventura filed a lawsuit against the promotion after discovering that non-feature performers were receiving royalties on videotape sales while he was not. Four years earlier, Ventura had waived his rights to royalties on videotape sales when he was falsely told that only feature performers received such royalties.

The case went to trial in federal court, and Ventura won $801,333 when a jury ruled in his favor. The judge also awarded Ventura $8,625 in back pay for all non-video WWF merchandise featuring Ventura. The lawsuit soured Ventura’s relationship with WWE, which had been under constant strain due to Ventura’s previous attempts to unionize wrestling.

Despite this, Ventura was welcomed back for SummerSlam 1999 (following his victory as governor) and served as a referee for the Minnesota pay-per-view main event. Ventura also returned for an “Old School Raw” in 2009, once again donning the headset alongside Vince McMahon as commentator.
