DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Iowa State basketball star Tyrese Haliburton gets the chance of a lifetime this weekend: playing for Team USA and a shot at gold at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Haliburton secured a spot on the 12-player roster in April and will play with stars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

In 2018, Haliburton began his college basketball career at Iowa State University and quickly became a star player. During his time at Iowa State, he accomplished many things, including:

  • Two-time Big 12 Player of the Week

  • Two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week

  • Sets school assists record with 17 assists in one game

  • Two-time ISU Scholar Athlete

  • All Big 12 Second Team Awards

Haliburton declared for the 2020 NBA draft and was selected in the lottery by the Sacramento Kings. In early 2022, Haliburton was traded to the Indiana Pacers, where he became a two-time NBA All-Star and helped the Pacers to an Eastern Conference Finals in his first two full years with the team.
