Storms cause damage in Madison County – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

LAPEL, Ind. (WISH) — Severe storms damaged the Frankton Lapel School administration building Monday night.

The National Weather Service will be at the building Tuesday to determine whether the damage was caused by wind or a tornado and to determine wind speed, according to the Madison County Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency.

The Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department reported on Facebook that the former Jackson School and current administration building sustained severe damage, particularly to the space now used as offices and a gym.

The post reads: “The gymnasium was destroyed by wall and roof collapse. Multiple buses were damaged as well as the roof system of most of the building. A debris field was previously confirmed near Perkinsville but it took some time to be discovered. There are no reports of injuries and all units remain on scene.”
