Video forecast for sunday morning

Today, showers and storms will be scattered across the viewing area, with rainfall decreasing dramatically on Monday and most of next week.

Today & tonight: More afternoon and evening storms are expected today. Like yesterday, not everyone will see rain, but about half of the viewing area will. Heavy rain and strong lightning are possible if you are under one of these thunderstorms. Highs will be around 93 degrees, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening. Skies will clear up partly tonight, with lows in the upper 70s.

Next one: An upper-level ridge of high pressure will continue to grip the area throughout next week. Drier air will also move in. These two factors combined will keep any afternoon storms from patchy to isolated. Some days will likely be drier than others. Right now, Tuesday and Wednesday look to be those days. As the rain tapers off, the big story will be the heat. Temperatures will likely be in the mid to upper 90s throughout the week. Heat warnings may eventually become the norm again.

The tropics: An area of ​​disturbed weather over the central tropical Atlantic is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave over the next few days. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive to some development within a day or two, and a tropical depression could form by midweek while the system is near or over the northern Leeward Islands, Greater Antilles, or southwestern Atlantic.
