Victim’s identity released as detectives investigate fatal pedestrian collision

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced that a 30-year-old Silver Spring man was killed in a fatal crash that occurred Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the intersection of University Boulevard East and Langley Drive.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 8:59 p.m., officers from the 3rd Precinct and Montgomery County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene for the report of a pedestrian collision. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard East at Langley Drive when he was struck by a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Aman Abraham Gebreyesus of Silver Spring. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation and CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.”
