TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A heat warning is in effect for most of the region through Tuesday evening. Heat index values ​​could exceed 109 degrees in some areas.

We’re closing out July on a steamy note. Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s in Big Bend and South Georgia on Tuesday with some sunshine. If you factor in the humidity, we could see heat indexes that top 109º in some areas. Be sure to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if you’re working outside.

There may be scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. However, it will not rain everywhere.

After scattered storms Tuesday night, we’ll slowly dry out for the night. It’ll remain warm and muggy, with lows only dropping into the mid to upper 70s. Some areas of dense fog are possible under partly cloudy skies.

It will remain warm for the rest of the week

The big news for the middle and end of the week is that we are expecting very warm weather again.

Highs on Wednesday will top out in the mid 90s under a mix of sun and clouds. Scattered storms could bring heat relief to some areas. Lows tonight will remain in the mid to upper 70s.

Another warm day is on the program for Thursday. Highs will rise to mid and high 90s in the region under partly cloudy skies. Take those heat safety tips seriously again. There may be some showers, but the chance of rain is not great. Lows will drop to mid and high 70s.

Friday looks warm and humid. Highs will remain in the mid 90s under a mix of sun and clouds. Scattered showers and storms are possible, especially in the second half of the day. Lows will drop to the mid 70s.

Weekend forecast

The weather pattern will not change much over the weekend.

We expect more steamy highs on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s under partly cloudy skies.

Scattered showers are possible on both days, but it will not lead to a total washout.

The minimum temperatures at night are around 25 degrees Celsius.

Tropical update

We are monitoring an area of ​​interest in the tropics. In the short term it remains disorganized. The National Hurricane Center says there is a 0% chance of development in the next two days.

According to the NHC, the chance of development in the next seven days is 60%.
