4 homeless attacked in MOCO, police looking for 6 suspects

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County authorities are searching for several suspects in connection with the alleged attack on a group of homeless people in Silver Spring earlier this month.

Police on Tuesday released surveillance images of six suspects wanted in connection with the July 16 attack. Police said the incident occurred shortly before 4:45 a.m. near Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street.

According to police, five black male suspects and one black female suspect got out of a dark Honda Civic and walked toward the victims while they were sleeping.

According to police, a female victim was asleep at a table when she was punched in the face. When she reached for her phone to call police, one of the suspects grabbed the phone and broke it, authorities said.

Two male victims were sleeping on a bench when the suspects approached and attacked them, police said. A third male victim was chased by the suspects toward Georgia Ave. and was able to escape, authorities said.

Two victims were taken to hospital for treatment, police said.

Police have released the following descriptions of the suspects:

  • Suspect one is a black man, wearing a black balaclava, a gray shirt, jeans and white-gray sneakers.
  • Suspect two is a black man with short dreadlocks, wearing a gray shirt with white print, black pants and black shoes.
  • Suspect three is a black male, wearing a black hat, white t-shirt, black pants, light colored shoes and a black shoulder bag.
  • Suspect four is a black male, wearing a black tank top, black pants and black and yellow sneakers.
  • Suspect five is a black man dressed all in black.
  • Suspect six is ​​a black female, wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt, black pants and white shoes.
