Idaho Commission Accepts Comments on Rocky Mountain Power’s Plan to Mitigate Wildfires • Idaho Capital Sun

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is accepting public comments on Rocky Mountain Power’s 2024-2026 Idaho Wildfire Mitigation Plan until mid-September.

The eastern Idaho utility is using the plan to reduce the risk of wildfires and to provide information about investments to efficiently build, maintain and operate electrical equipment to reduce that risk, according to a news release from the utilities commission.

The plan also includes information on inspection procedures, vegetation management practices, efforts to strengthen the system, protocols for shutting off power in the interest of public safety, cost estimates, and other technical information related to forest fire mitigation.

The Utilities Commission is accepting comments until September 12. To respond, go to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission website and click on the “Case Comment Form” link at the top left of the page. Use case number PAC-E-24-09 when submitting the form.
