Kristopher Harmon, 22, was arrested around noon Tuesday for reckless driving after he was pulled over on northbound I-465 on the southwest side of Indy.

ISP Sgt. John Perrine said officers saw Harmon driving his car at 107 mph near the 9.2 mile marker of 465. A photo shows radar recorded Harmon’s car traveling at 106 mph.

Harmon is said to have driven through a work zone where INDOT employees were working, where the speed limit is 45 mph.

Online court records show that a man with the same name and date of birth as Harmon was pulled over just three days earlier, on June 27, for speeding and driving with expired license plates. He was formally charged on Monday.

The same man has also received another ticket for speeding since July 2023.

In Indiana, reckless driving as a first offense is a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to a one-year license suspension, 180 days in jail, and a $1,000 fine.

INDOT is currently taking new measures to curb speeding in work zones in Indy.

Next month, the department will launch a pilot program that will allow workers to place speed cameras in construction zones. The first cameras will be installed along Interstate 70 in Hancock County.

These cameras will reportedly take pictures of license plates on cars traveling at least 11 mph over the posted speed limit. INDOT officials said they will announce three more work sites later this year where cameras will be installed.
