Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges in Glynn County

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV)—A Glynn County man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child pornography following an investigation earlier this year.

The Glynn County Sheriff’s Office (GCPD) and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Lawrence “Larry” Hobbs on August 8 after ICAC alerted the GCPD Criminal Investigations Division that a photo was being uploaded to social media showing a minor in an indecent position, according to a GCPD press release.

GCPD investigators tracked down the physical address where the photo originated and contacted Hobbs. The GCPD subsequently obtained a search warrant for Hobbs’ home.

During an interview with GCPD, Hobbs confessed to crimes involving possession and distribution of child pornography. Hobbs is charged with two felonies, one each of sexual exploitation of children, which is considered possession, and sexual exploitation of children, which is considered distribution.

Anyone with additional knowledge about this case is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (912) 554-7802, the GCPD Non-Emergency Services Unit at (912) 554-3645, or report anonymously through Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
