TOWN OF ULSTER, NY — Two Irish nationals wanted in the United Kingdom, allegedly part of a transnational crime organization, were arrested in July, according to a statement from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

The statement said Ulster County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday, July 17, on a Ford F150 in the town, reported stolen from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The operator was identified as Kathleen McCarthy, 35, an Irish national, who was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.

According to the statement, following the judgment of McCarthy, the sheriff’s office was contacted by the United States Dept. of Homeland Security, who said McCarthy and her husband, Oliver Boswell, 36, also an Irish national, were wanted by City of London police since 2018 for allegedly defrauding victims of over three million pounds.

The statement said Boswell was located in Ulster County with the assistance of the Dept. or Homeland Security, as well as “other members of the crime organization.” McCarthy and Boswell were taken into custody by Dept. of Homeland Security division of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, pending removal proceedings.
